FL50 or FL50R

I have an FL36 but would like a little more reach. There are some bargain used FL50 units about but is it really worth the extra to get the FL50R when I doubt I'd ever use the wireless function to trigger other flash units?
Cheers.

Re: FL50 or FL50R

The FL-50 is a good and solid flash in its own right, so if you are sure you won't want off-camera activation then as long as the price is really good, I'd go for it.

Further to that an FL-50 + a set of PT-04 (or similar) radio triggers will cost alot less than an FL-50R and be a far more flexible / useful solution to off camera flash anyway.

Of course you can't TTL meter that way, but that may not be an issue in many cases.

Re: FL50 or FL50R

Got outbid by 32p on the FL50 which sold for 115.99 So I'm still looking for a bargain before I have to save up for a 50R.
I would have to chuck my FL36 and maybe my HLD-4 grip into the pot to finance that though.

Re: FL50 or FL50R

Has anyone used one of these: Metz Mecablitz 50 or 58 AF-1 Digital Flash?
If so how do they compare with the Olympus?
Thanks.
