The Things They Ask

Just had a telephone call from a lady who is coming on one of my photo workshops on Friday

HER:..."what's the weather like,.....is it very cold?"

ME:.... "yes it's very cold indeed, well below freezing, wrap up warm"

HER:...... "should I wear my thermals, and can we get a hot drink at MacDonalds or somewhere"

I patiently explained to her that there are no MacDonald's Fast Food Outlets on Skye, but we would probably stop for soup & sandwiches at a very traditional
wee restraunt that serves home made soup with home made wholemeal crusty bread.

HER...... "......oh, but do they do burgers and fries?...."

I'm going to lie down in a quiet room now and prepare myself for Friday.

Re: The Things They Ask

All washed down with a fine malt at the Sligachan Hotel I hope

last time I left there it was a near hurricane and we were the last off the campsite... even a McD**** would have been nice that morning

Regards
Andy

Just tell her the restaurant owner is a MacDonald, because under his kilt he's got two quarter pounders!

To help her build up an appetite for some real food I suggest you take her on a photo-walk from Sligachen to Loch Coruisk, returning via the Bad Step and Camasunary.

Re: The Things They Ask

I am just hoping that all the others are at least here for the scenery and wildlife.

God alone knows why this lady is coming. The accommodation I've arranged for them gives her a single room.
They are all from the same camera club I believe and know one another, and they are self catering so the night she cooks it might be interesting.
The gear they are reputedly bringing sounds at the very least eclectic.
Hasselblad X Pan,
Hasselblad Film Digital,
Canon,Nikon Sony but sadly no Oly kit.
But one gent with Pentax film cameras.
I just hope the weather helps me out a bit.

Being on Skye I trust you have some suitable bad weather shots lined up? Or persuade them indoor still lifes would be better - you know, close-ups of ice dissolving slowly in a crystal tumbler of Talisker resting on the polished wood bar, that sort of thing. Does seem a shame to spoil a good whisky with ice, though.

Re: The Things They Ask

Seonnaidh - you must pop a post on here in forming us about the workshops you run on Skye. It might be something that some of us would consider doing. You know... dates, costs, accommodation, venue, locations etc...

Imagine that... a gang of Oly users invading Skye!!

Re: The Things They Ask

Seagull Burgers! That sounds interesting I'll suggest it to Sandy who owns and runs the Sligachan Hotel.
We're supposedly doing the Old Man of Storr Friday followed by Brothers Point if they are up for it.
Got eight booked for the Friday & Saturday before Xmas.
They're all Geordies and this is the fourth time they have booked with us, and they are a great laugh.
We have a big dinner at their Self Catering accommodation at Elgol. They take Sunday to recover then drive home on the Monday.
