If you go down to the woods today....

...better take your litter picker with you!

I had a fabulous couple of hours this afternoon with my little grandson - decided to take my new camera for a walk whilst he did some litter picking. It was his idea, not mine and I'm so proud of him.

Just a few snaps, straight out of the camera apart from a couple of small crops.

Try as he might, he couldn't reach this one - a lesser spotted paintbrush hiding in the trees

He was determined to get every last bit!

I was so proud of his efforts

I'm absolutely loving this new camera - I think I may have been too hasty in buying a replacement for my dead e520 because I don't think it's going to get used much now I have this!

Re: If you go down to the woods today....

Nice shots. You couldn't do that round here though.....

The dust has mostly died down following "the unpleasantness" in Salisbury last year with the Novichok poisonings. However, it has recently reared its very ugly head again - various groups of people were planning to do group litter-picks, in the city and surrounding villages. And have been advised not to - apparently the public health advice round here is don't pick it up unless you dropped it yourself

Glad you're loving your new M5, Janet. I have an E-520 myself so I know exactly how you feel. Your grandson looks happy with what I presume is his new toy.

As an ex land surveyor, I can vouch that if you walk alongside almost any hedged or verged road in Britain, you will find an abandoned drink carton of some sort every 5 metres...………

Data obtained by surveying many miles of hedged/verged road. I have yet to see a carton/tin being thrown out of a car, so perhaps these cans etc have little legs and leg it to a road near you...….

Re: If you go down to the woods today....

After posting my little story on the local community page on Facebook, it was picked up by the local newspaper and appeared on their website today.

https://www.burnleyexpress.net/news/...iham-1-9617312

It will be in the printed edition on Friday - he's so excited!

Typical - they just lifted the photo from Facebook instead of coming to me for the original files which I would have been happy to provide. Lazy.

That’s great.

Unfortunately the paper’s website is one of those that won’t let you access any pages if you’ve got an adblocker running.

Re: If you go down to the woods today....

Yes, that's annoying, isn't it?

I'll post some images when I get the actual newspaper on Friday...just 'cause I'm so proud of him!
