Beach Huts

I had to take my car in for its annual service in Lowestoft yesterday and I had a couple of hours to fill so I decided to put the 17mm f/1.8 on my E-M1 and go for a walk along the seafront to see what was about.

The beach huts were looking resplendant in their new paint.

I do enjoy a bit of repetition.

Where do you buy paint in these colours?

I bet the council was somewhat peeved when the beach built up
after they had spent all that money on new steps.

Some of the beach hut owners enjoy a bit of seaside bling ...

... while others adopt a more functional approach.

Nice. I like the first one best of all because there are no distractions and it has a certain 1950s atmosphere about it.

Re: Beach Huts

I love that bit of beachfront as I think the contrast between that and some of the less salubrious bits of the town is stunning.

Really sharp and vibrant images

Sometimes just the sight of these colourful huts lifts the heart.

Re: Beach Huts

Many thanks for all the kind comments. I was surprised by how much the beach had changed there since my last visit. Between the harbour and the pier the previously golden sands have disappeared and the sea now almost reaches the wall of the promenade. Granite boulders have been piled up there for protection and boulders have been formed into groynes to slow down the southerly drift of the sand. South of the pier the beach has actually increased, which is why all the new steps are now redundant. It must be very frustrating for the authorities looking after the beach.
