Barn Owl Session

We had a Barn Owl brought in to my local camera club which gave us some time to photograph him.

Used the E-M1 with 40-150 at just over 100mm FL and F2.8 at 1/100, ISO1600, AWB

I hope that you enjoy seeing him as much as I enjoyed snapping him!

Re: Barn Owl Session

Bob

This one was raised from an egg by it's handler, feeding him worms etc then as he grew his diet moved on to small mammals. Owls like freshly killed food as they are not scavengers like Red Kites or Buzzards.

In the wild their target prey is dead the moment the Owl locks on to it, the impact alone kills the animal which is why you very rarely see an Owl fy off with a wriggling prey mammal in it's talons.

Now, do you still want one?!

You would need to breed mice as well just to feed it!

Even if you/anyone did want one, they would need a licence; and I don't believe they are easy to acquire...
