Anyone fancy some free DXO software?

Yes, I know there's a better forum for this, on this board, but there is a tumble weed issue. There's some DXO film simulation software up for grabs. it only works on JPEG and TIFF (so obviously, I recommend raw to TIFF for best results). Here goes:

Not sure if I'll use it but you can't argue with the price, thanks!

I was just looking for something like that and will give it a try. Thanks a lot! I hope it runs on my old machine ...!?

Re: Anyone fancy some free DXO software?

It runs happily on my WinXP desktop, correctly identifying Photoshop CS4 and installing the appropriate bits. I've only dabbled thus far but it could be useful for mono work especially.

Re: Anyone fancy some free DXO software?

Funnily enough .... given away free with this months' copy of 'Digital Photographer' (which arrived this morning) is DxO Optics Pro 6 Elite, valued at £239.

Just in case you fancy trying it or want to complete the set ...

Re: Anyone fancy some free DXO software?

Hmm. It works with Elements 10 and CS3. Furthermore I can open a DNG in Elements and process it in the DXO film plugin at 16 bits.

Here's some I developed earlier. A E620 rose using Velvia.

An E-M5 sunset also with Velvia (well, you have to don't you..)

and an E-M5 contrasty shot using Delta 400

Worth having I think, specially at this price.

Pete

David,

That seemed like a good deal to me, so I went to look for it in WH Smith.

The copy of 'Digital Photographer' on sale did not include any DxO software. I could not see a date on it, but it is issue no. 139. Is this the same issue as yours please?

Re: Anyone fancy some free DXO software?

To respond to Dewi9, DxO Optics Pro claims not to support any Olympus Four Thirds bodies or lenses, as far as I can see. Thanks, but...

By contrast, DXO FilmPack 3, as in Internaut's original post, does happily open Four Thirds tiff and jpeg files. But not raw ORF files.

Re: Anyone fancy some free DXO software?

Olympus Viewer has lens correction built-in anyway . But according to the web site Olympus cameras and lenses are supported:

http://www.dxo.com/intl/photography/...rted-equipment

Select camera from the drop down list on the Features tab and then click on the Combinations tab to select a lens.

Not so.
DxO Optics Pro does support all Olympus E system cameras up to OMD-E-M5 and nearly all 4/3 and m4/3 lenses. I have been successfully using DxO Optics Pro since edition 6, which is the one mentioned in Dewi9's post.It is currently at edition 8 (which is why they are giving edition 6 away) and is my preferred raw development software.

You can download the full version for 1 months free trial here. http://www.dxo.com/intl/photography/download

Regards.

Re: Anyone fancy some free DXO software?

Quite so, I had misunderstood their webpage - it evidently lists only the new cameras supported, rather than the entire list of supported models - which the drop down search facility does (although for the current v8). My bad!

Since the free disk is v6, it seems all is well for Four Thirds users, as the E-5 *was* supported by v6.

Now, which magazine?

Piers

Re: Anyone fancy some free DXO software?

For those with old iMacs, the freebie doesn't run on Leopard (10.5) I found after I downloaded .
