Would anyone like to lend me an old Leica M-mount lens?

I'm on the look out for a good quality but old Leica M-mount lens to feature in an article I'm writing for Amateur Photographer magazine about the use of such lenses on modern digital camera bodies...

I'd need it for about a week.

Ian

Re: Would anyone like to lend me an old Leica M-mount lens?

Ian,

How old are we thinking of ? I have several Leica M lenses but they are relatively new designs, the oldest being a 24mm F2.8 asph design from the late 1990's.

What about old Nikon F lenses, I would be prepared to lend you a beautiful 200mm F4 pre ai and 300mm f4 pre ai, I have a Novoflex Nikon F to Regular 4/3 adapter that I could also lend to you if do not have a M4/3 one for it couples very well with the MMF1/2/3

Regards

Simon

Re: Would anyone like to lend me an old Leica M-mount lens?

Thanks Simon - I'm really looking for a wide angle lens as the current weather isn't really telephoto weather! The 24 is tempting but am hoping for something a bit older I may come back to you!

Re: Would anyone like to lend me an old Leica M-mount lens?

Ian,

No problem, and if in future you would like to try the Nikkors just drop me a PM . If you do decide to borrow the 24mm I have the genuine Leica/Panasonic M - M4/3 mount if you would require it, just let me know.

BTW the 24 Elmarit Asph, 50 Summilux Asph and 90 Elmarit-M work wonderfully on my EM-5 and this is now the way I am heading with the EM-5 along with some rather nice OM Zuiko's. My aim is to do a post in the near future about using such lenses on the EM-5 as I find the results very rewarding.

I will not be online over the weekend as my daughter will be home from Uni and I have promised my wife to stay off the computer, so my next reply will likely be Monday.

Regards

Simon

I'm possibly rethinking the 24mm as it was a pre-digital design and one of the the things I want to explore his how pre-digital lenses work on modern digital bodies.

Re: Would anyone like to lend me an old Leica M-mount lens?

Are you in a hurry Ian? I have a 35mm f/2.8 Summaron from the 1950s which looks convincingly old and took a few lovely photos on film, though I am slightly ashamed to say I haven't tried it on m43. You would be welcome to borrow it but I wouldn't be able to sort it out until next weekend (i.e. 8th Feb onwards).

Thanks John - I have to finish the article by the end of the coming week - but maybe I can come back to you in the future?

Re: Would anyone like to lend me an old Leica M-mount lens?

You'd be welcome to borrow my Leitz 135 Elmarit, Ian, but I'm away from home until the 10th plus (obviously) it's not a wide angle... It could come on a Novoflex LM-MFT adapter.
Let me know if you want to go ahead.

Thanks - may come back to you in the future - probably going for the 24mm for this article

Sure, no problem. Looks like you're building up quite a potential range there - someone with a 35 or 50 Summicron just needs to offer!

If you would like an old but cheap one for comparison I'll lend you a Russian Jupiter 50mm f2 as used on Zorki cameras. It's derived from the Sonnar and performs reasonably well on 35mm. It's Leica Screw but I can include the adaptor to M mount.

That sounds like a good prospect but maybe for a different article...
