Stourhead: Wet Bank Holiday :-)

It was quite a drive, and it was chilly and damp. Like they say "it would be nice here on a nice day"

Here's my best shot, its been gone over a bit...

Must go back another day - with sunshine hopefully

Pete

Oh, and this was the second best shot..

Hi Snarrman - Nice photos - what settings, camera and lens did you use for the last flower pic ?

Hi there..

The opening Rhododendron was shot the wrong way, breaking several rules

I used the long end of my 11-22 wide angle wide open at f3.5 and as close as possible. (So much for wide angles being no good for dof shots..) The idea was to keep a hint of the building blurred in the background.

I took just the 11-22 and the 40-150 with me as part of my self imposed "only two lens" strategy.

The mono shot is two layers (one gaussian blurred) and blended using "lighten" in photoshop to give that odd almost miniature look to the scene. Then converted to monochrome with an infrared look and tinted.

Pete

I really like the first ones softness and that it was done in B&W. It looks like an old post card. Nice composition.

Re: Stourhead: Wet Bank Holiday :-)

When I looked at the first image I immediately thought Infra Red - so a good job done.

The second (with the first) shows your weekend wasn't as bad as you suggested.

Regards. Barr1e

That first one's pretty interesting, I must have a play around with that technique. Both nice shots though. There's a lot of determined people outdoors in that first shot - only the British swarm around outside on miserable days like that!

Yes, I like the first shot, and will try that approach too.

Thanks for sharing.
