What's Pete (Snaarman) been up to?

I started to wonder why we haven't heard from Pete for a few weeks, especially as he is normally such a prolific poster (joke!) but I see from his blog that he's been gallivanting in Cyprus, lucky s*d!

No doubt we'll be treated to some holiday snaps soon, including some from Bedfordshire if his blog is anything to go by.

Re: What's Pete (Snaarman) been up to?

Rumours of my demise are premature and exaggerated

I have been kept busy with my photoblog and Flickr recently. I was also getting a bit frightened at the top of the members list as second most prolific poster, so I figured I would give you all a rest for a while...

I have to say that in my wanderings, I still find this the friendliest forum around. Long may it continue :-)

Oh, and yes, we just got back from a week in Cyprus. Our 5th visit, and 4th in the same hotel near Polis. What a great and photogenic island...

Well, it's good to have you back, Pete, and it sounds like you had a great holiday. Your break has allowed me to overtake you in number of posts - it's time I got a life, too!

Many thanks :-)

I took 135 pictures during a week in Cyprus and I figure there are 15 of them that are something other than basic holiday snaps, and perhaps 5 that measure up to our high standards here

I shall pop together a post of my best shots later and see what you make of 'em.

Meanwhile, in an attack of senility or stupidity, I seem to have lost one of my two 4Gb CF cards over the holiday. I'm fairly certain I took it on holiday but can I find it anywhere in the suitcases, camera bag, trousir pockets. Nope. Fortunately there were'nt any pictures on it, but I do hate losing stuff.

I still have hopes it will turn up (probably after its been through the washing machine). Grrr.

Have you tried inside the camera?

One picture sums up a holiday. It makes you sick.

It'll be inside a shoe. You'd be surprised at the number of lost items which have turned up inside my shoes after a holiday

Aaah.. Shoe. Never thought of that.. Will have a look tonight.

Here's a laugh. During my desperate searches I went through my work rucksack that I used on holiday looking for this stupid CF card.

What did I find in this bag that has been through security and X-rayed twice...???

One of those natty little creditcard took kits. You know, the ones with the short but sharp knife for stabbing passengers, the little scissors for threatening pilots, plus three other pokey stabby little things to gain people's attention.

Ooops. Forgot it was there when I cleared out the bag.

Re: What's Pete (Snaarman) been up to?

and yes I can see the inner squares in the last three or four squares at either ends of the row but not in the middle - in the middle it is a continuous tone from dark to light

However how arty it might look I do not get on with small white/grey text on a black ground so I have to scale up the text - put it down to old age

If you can see the squares at both ends, then your monitor is set up OK - there are no squares in the middle (we're talking about the monitor calibration strip I have on my photoblog BTW folks). As to the text, I will have a think and see if I can tweak something more readable that is still arty :-)

Funny that, I travel with reasonable frequency for work related reasons to mainland Europe and there is many a time I find that I have mistakenly carried something I probably shouldn't have in my luggage.
Last time it was a 12" steel rule if memory serves me right All passed through airport security without any problems!

By the way, nice to have you back Pete and that image ticks the boxes for me, particularly from a composition point of view
