Newcastle

Went to Newcastle last week. Took a few shots while travelling to and from the office and thought I would share. Last time I was there (and my first attempt at low light shots) well.... it was embarrassing. At least these I don't feel too ashamed of!

Re: Newcastle

I think the three night shots are very nice indeed. Though I have a slight reservation about the second where the longer exposure time seems to have caused the river to freeze over.

I must go out and search for some night scenes in Swindon, though unfortunately it is a bit short of obvious views.

Well done

Nick

Re: Newcastle

The first 2 and the last work best for me. Shame half the streelamp bulbs are out in the last one!

I like Nick's comment about the water looking frozen due to the long exposure. This is Newcastle in December after all, so perhaps it really is frozen!

In velo veritas ..... John

One and three are my favourites. You reminded me I must go up the TV Tower here in Shenyang for some night shots.

The viewing platform is 200m, and todays temperature is -19C with wind-chill. Not sure if me or the camera are up for that!

Re: Newcastle

Thanks for the feedback guys.

I must admit I do like the frozen water look, but I can see how this can detract from the image.

I'm toying with the idea of 'lighting' the extinguished lamps in photoshop

Kind regards

Graydon
