Nik Collection

I used to have the Nik Collection, when it came free from Google. I was able to access it from Photo/Edit in in Adobe LR CC.

After an update to Adobe CC it was no longer available.

I decided to give it another go, and downloaded the 30 day free trial.

This had a link to access it in both LR and in Photoshop as filters.

Each time I went to use this I got options "Activate", "Buy" or "Try". I would click on "Try" and the software worked well.

Today I found I had only 2 days left on the free trial, so I decided to buy.

I registered, got an Activation Code, and paid £59. I have an e-mailed receipt of the transaction.

Result:

I am £59 poorer.

In LR and PS the same "Activate", "Buy" or "Try" options appear, but none of them work.

I have searched through W10, and Nik Collection is listed in Apps. I cannot find any way to open the software as a free standing option. Nothing useful like an Icon to click.

Any suggest to resolve this impasse would be gratefully received. . .

Re: Nik Collection

Peter, I am no expert but I had issues when I had the trial. My problems were specifically related to Affinity Photo in that certain linkages had to be made in order for Affinity to recognise Nik. I managed to sort it out with some help from YouTube videos, plus the DXo support line was very responsive. Sorry that I cannot be more helpful but I’m sure that you will be able to use Nik again. By the way, I had the free Google version but that was rendered unusable when Apple upgraded the operating system. And, I bought mine on a Black Friday deal, DXo to my money twice but refunded me without quibble.

Best of Luck

David

Re: Nik Collection

Unless you have any other things installed after putting the Nik software on the machine, you can “Restore” to a point before the Nik installation, then reinstall it as a bought system.

Re: Nik Collection

Thanks all, I managed to fix it. I went into the Programs section of Win 10 and found DxO/Nik Collection.

I opened up the section for Silver Efex Pro ll, and clicked on the Icon there.

The familiar box offering "Activate", "Buy" and "Try" appeared. I typed the activation code in the box, and clicked Activate.

This time it worked and the Nik functions work in both LR and PS.
