Sunset over Bowmore

Just got back from a very enjoyable holiday on Islay. The weather was a bit wet and windy as you might expect on the west of Scotland in October. When the Sun did come out though we were treated to some very special views and a few nice sunsets. Here is one from just outside our accommodation looking out over the distillery.

All C&C welcome.

Taken with em-5 and 12-60 mm.

Lovely light, and I like the muted tones. I must get to Islay sometime, looks great.

Re: Sunset over Bowmore

A nice tranqil shot with good light that depicts end of day well.

This image I think would look pretty dramatic in B&W as well.

On the image, or the whisky?

Lovely shot. I'd be inclined to lift the shadows for the buildings, just a fraction.

A legendary distillery with a large following and high prices for the collectable stuff. Their whisky distilled in the 80s and early 90s was tainted by what became known as FWP*. Floral notes (lavender) are common to this distillery's produce but the FWP was overpowering and still rears it's ugly head from time to time and still damages their reputation. Theories abound as to what caused it, but the distillery finally sorted it out, and like to keep quiet about it.

* FWP -- French Whore's Perfume.

Re: Sunset over Bowmore

Lovely tranquil shot, and Islay's at its best off-season. Some of the Sherry-barrel expressions of Bowmore are what malt is all about!

Re: Sunset over Bowmore

The weather was a bit wet and windy as you might expect on the west of Scotland in October.

I was there at the beginning of July and that description of the weather would have suited it then too.

It's a great shot - the light and the clouds really make it.
