Help please...fitting 45mm lens hood

Des anyone use the JJC lens hood on their 45mm lens? I bought this as a cheap alternative to the Olympus one but for the life of me I can't see how it fits without forcing it

There doesn't seem to be the normal locking bit on the lens and the connecting section on the hood has four slits the size of a staple that look like they would break if I was to put pressure on them.

Excuse me if I am being really thick here but any help would be appreciated!!

Thanks,
Anne

Ahhh.....thank you! I didn't realize that bit came off. I had wiggled it before but thought it was just a loose bit of the lens edge

I do feel thick

I hear that the ring loosens up, so I've just left the blue tape on both ends of mine.

Re: Help please...fitting 45mm lens hood

Sorry for resurrecting this old thread but there is a great alternative hood for the Olympus 45mm f1.8 lens instead of the Olympus original or the JJC replacement, both of which need the ring being removed. Dorr's 37mm light metal hood is screw-on and fits neatly onto the thread of the filter or lens itself. This means, of course, that one does not have to remove the ring to fit the hood. It costs not much more than the JJC hood, is more compact for storage and comes in both black & silver. I have used this since Day 1 for 3 years and it works fine.

Incidentally, for those who have said that the ring loosens or falls-off, I wonder if they had "clicked" the ring back into place when it was put back on?
