Hells Gate & The Headless Horseman

Hells Gate - A God Forsaken Place, not really - in spite of its apparent emptiness it is full of wildlife.

Presumably Hell's Angels ...

We arrived as they were leaving

Sandra at the Royal Mail Hotel watering hole, otherwise known as the Headless Horseman Bar.

Fascinating story, and atmospheric photos of a "big country". About a month to go before we see it!

Nice one Mark and good pics.
Now I have been to Moama and Hay a few times and driven the southern end of the Long Paddock and been to Wilcannia via Broken Hill and Lake Menindee. Where did I miss Hell's Gate? - I'm going on a big trip next year.

There is much to see here Stephen and you should have fair skies in October. I look forward to sharing some of your pictures.

Terry, I almost missed Hells Gate myself. It is right on the highway about 50km south of Balranald. Mind you, there are probably better things to see so don't spend too much time looking for it ! It was just the quirky name that got me.

Mark, I really like the shot of Sandra - the warmth of colour; the Jukebox and Pool too that is my kind of place

We don't often drink at pubs, in this case it was just coffee and the only place for 50 miles in any direction where you can buy anything smaller than a steer. The Royal Mail is a very quiet place, even at rush hour, Amanda !

Chevvy, promise yourself that one day you will come and visit our shores, I think you would find so much to enjoy.
