Photography courses.. again?

Hi all,
I am looking at photography courses for my son to enrol on.

He wanted to do a BTEC diploma, however as he has dyslexia, his English grade wasn't high enough to get in the course for at least another year!

So, while he tries to gain a good enough grade in English for a course in a practical skill, we're hoping we can find a course to give him a good head-start (or even replace) the course he wanted to do originally.

He was hoping to go the apprentice route, but we have not been able to find any way for him to go down that route either.

Any advice or guidance would be appreciated.

Many thanks

Thats true, but as he is under 18 his course (had he got the right qualifications) would have been free. Now to stop him feel like he's marking time, I thought a course would be
helpful, and hopefully get him ahead of some of the others if/when he gets on the course NEXT year.

Thanks for the link, I'll take a good look at it

Re: Photography courses.. again?

I assume your son was hoping to do a BTEC Level 3 Diploma or a BTEC National Diploma in Photography?

There are quite a few online courses out there. Have a look at this website, they offer NVQ's (National Vocational Qualifications) in Photography online at Level 3 & 4. The courses aren't free as one would be at your local college. None the less they are worth considering:

http://pptutor-online.com/

These people advertise a 24 week online Diploma in Photography, costing about 500. I don't know what level it is though:

These people also offer online courses, ranging from Shorter Foundation courses (Open College Network Accreditation at Level 2 & 3) to a more intensive course can be done full or part time and is equivalent to a National Diploma in Photography (but is expensive):
