Photoshop and paper profiles for B&W printing

I am hoping someone can help here, as I can't seem to find an answer anywhere.

I am back to printing photographs using a Canon Pro-10s.

I am using Permajet Oyster paper with a paper profile installed.
However, when I select B&W printing from the print settings box, the Permajet profiles disappear and I am left with a small selection of Canon paper profiles.

How do I make all my Permajet paper profiles available for black and white printing?

Thanks.

Chris

Re: Photoshop and paper profiles for B&W printing

Are you using Lightroom or Photoshop. With the profiles entered you should be able to see an emulation of the print on the screen. It will invariably look different when printed, since reflected and transmitted light just work that way.

Re: Photoshop and paper profiles for B&W printing

What exactly are you trying to do? From your description I am guessing that you have colour files and want to print them in B&W.

It sounds as though you are asking the printer driver to do the B&W conversion for you - and in that case profiles are irrelevant because the driver is converting al the colours to what it thinks will be good in B&W. If you want to use profiles to suit the non-Canon paper, convert the file to B&W yourself and balance it up if required, then in the print dialogue do not tell the printer to convert it to B&W - just print it as you would a colour print.
