Re: Cramlington calls...

Interesting, I have an aunt and a cousin who both live in Cramlington and neither have mentioned this. I will have to ask them about it.

It is on my list to do as it's about 1-1/2 hours or so's drive away dependent on traffic. Few problems at the mo. With two more visits to hospital will I'm hopeful they will give me the all clear to drive.

Charles Jencks who designed Northumberlandia, is also responsible for the facinating Garden of Cosmic Speculation at Portrack House near Dumfries. Well worth a visit but unfortunately only open to the public on a few occasions throughout the year.

If you are ever lucky enough to go, take a wide angle lens. I wish I had!

Re: Cramlington calls...

On looking at the whole project, we don't have that sort of artistic feature in our man made lakes that was an open cut mine in Penrith (west Sydney) for sand & gravel, but it was turned into a lakes system (& on going) which part of it was made into a white water rafting course used for the Olympics in 2000. This Northumberland site looks like it should be a lovely place to visit.

There is no rush Wally. I shall be interested to see what sort of view you get from the viewing platform, the link picture looks like it was taken from a helicoper. I sure you will get some good angles. That's further away from you than I thought, being an Essex man the border is no more than 30 mins drive. Hope all goes as well it can with your hospital visits.
