Lr 6

I use LR 5 which does not support ORF files from the MK2 EM1. OK, so I use Adobe DNG converter but it is another step in the flow. I would like to upgrade to LR6, but, not on the cloud. I want a physical CD to put in my machine, but when I go to the Adobe site, there does not seem to be any way to do that, I have to download the upgrade.

Question, does anyone know or can provide a link so I can get a copy on a disc to upgrade my LR5?

Re: Lr 6

I'm not sure they ship it on CD any more. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think even the full boxed version from Amazon, PCWorld, etc, simply contains the product key now! I also have the standalone version (6.x) and don't want the cloud version. I've downloaded it for the last few years now, without problem - is there a reason you want a physical CD? They are really pushing the cloud and it can be difficult to find the standalone version on Adobe's site. If you haven't already, try this link, choose Lightroom and change "full" to "upgrade".

I seem to remember when I installed 6 it insisted on creating me some sort of trial CC account - but you don't have to sign up for subscriptions. There's a rumour that version 7 should be released soon (current version is 6.9) but whether that's true - and whether it will be available standalone - remains to be seen. If they force us through to CC route, I may try Capture One...

You could try this link

Ignore the attempt to persuade you to sign up for the cc version!

Re: Lr 6

Thanks guys. It seems that I will have to go cloud or download the upgrade. I love LR but hate the way it is marketed.

Re: Lr 6

I had the same problem deliberating about upgrading to LR 6 but bit the bullet last Aug and got it for 59.09 from adobe. The problem I have with cc is what happens when I do not have the justification to use it. Will the whole LR catalog be lost to me? I would suggest that you keep an eye on the internet as there are sometimes some good deal to be had buying the LR standalone licence. I regretted seeing John Lewis have it for about 49 once, and let it go by. I would have to say that apart from handling of raw from the em5 mk II and em1 mkII the panorama stitching feature is also worth the upgrade.

Re: Lr 6

I have a standalone copy of LR6 which I got for Christmas which contains a DVD.
I have to admit I'm still finding time to install it though

If you have a full CD/DVD version of LR5 are you allowed to sell that on with the key and use the funds to put towards a full version of LR6 rather than an upgrade?

I should think so.

Yes, so long as you de-register it ( I can't remember the details of how to do this) I flogged an LR6 DVD a while back with no problems.
