Anyone else seen this case for E420

This will make you stand out in a crowd.See second post.

http://www.fourthirdsphoto.com/vbb/s...ad.php?t=22311

I think its ugly.I know it states it will be available in black and brown but I dont like it but I'm sure some will.

Ps this should probably be in another topic if anyone wants to move it.

Ah, the good ol' (n)ever-ready case... was wondering when these would start coming back into fashion.

Yeah I noticed those on a Korean, I think it was, site. I think they look nice, very retro but quite good. However I don't think I'll be buying one. Very much a fashion accessory. Also an advert for theft. Still, the production of "luxury" accessories for Olympus' has to be a good sign

Not keen on the white one – the brown one might look nice, but I think an erc ruins the handling of a camera.

Quite agree - but they are quite good for storing the camera in when not in use if a camera bag is inconvenient.

Re: Anyone else seen this case for E420

Methinks I may be one of a minority here! I actually really like ER Cases, and I am pleased to see that they are being made for the 400 series bodies. I don't really care for the white one though.

I always use them with my OM bodies and found they offer good protection and are reasonably durable. I think I still have around 4 of them brand new in the box, stashed in a drawer somewhere.

Re: Anyone else seen this case for E420

One of the Oly Reps was waxing lyrical about these at the Digital Depot Oly day recently. He was somewhat taken aback by my lack of enthusiasm. I threw away my last (OM) never-ready case more than 20 years ago. I don't like neck straps that much either and prefer either a grip strap or something that goes round my wrist plus a decent bag.

I can understand why they would go down well in Japan tho' - it's that retro look.

We may be a minority but I, like you, consider an ever-ready-case can be very useful if designed well. I used one on my Leica M2 for 20 years and, as a consequence, when I sold it, the camera and lens were in mint condition. No scratches on the body or the lens housing. It made the carrying of the camera easy and one movement of the hand to unclip the front cover made the camera immediately available for shooting.

I have a weather proof Tamrac holster case for my E-510 but I find it takes at least one minute to remove it to shoot. Consequently, when in a situation where I want to be able to shoot at short notice, the camera is often hung around my neck for long periods of time and held by one hand to avoid the LCD screen being scratched by my clothing. So, if Olympus were to make an ever-ready-case for the E510 to fit both the 25mm pancake lens and the 14-42mm lens, then I for one would buy it. Provided that the front cover overlaps the LCD screen (which I presume from observing the press stud shown at the base of the bottom-case for the E-420 is how it is to be fastened).

Ray.

Re: Anyone else seen this case for E420

I used to like the old ever ready casees for the M leica's If my memory is correct they were really good quality calf skin in those far off days.

The worlds a wheel! Everything comes round if you wait long enough.

Re: Anyone else seen this case for E420

Another vote for ERC's I always keep the body part on even if I have the camera in a CCS pouch. Not too keen on the method of attachment on the new one, I preferred the OM type that screwed to the tripod socket.

I think that's the problem - I've never found one that was, for my taste, that is. YMMV. IMHO, it's just something else to get in the way and get tangled. If it wasn't for the extra lenses, I'd forego the bag too. I keep a screen cover on the LCD to avoid scratches, but I think one can be too careful of what, is after all, simply a tool.

The main reason I would I like an E3 is so I can worry less about the Great British Weather...

Re: Anyone else seen this case for E420

I think the case is a good idea, especially for people who've only got the one lens. Makes the camera easier to carry too. Don't like the white though, imagine how grubby it would get.
