Re: A visit to Nairobi National Park

That is slightly beyond my experience of a park, Phil. Amazing place and great creatures.

Glad to see you are getting out and about.

in my local park we have swings and a bandstand. I wont be sharing pictures!

Hahaha, I think I know what you mean about your local park Hi Peter, I am making very good progress and looking forward to my visit to the UK in 2 weeks time. The nerve pain from the Shingles is still a problem. The docs tell me, I must put up with it for several months and I accept this. The main thing is the virus is no longer interfering with my eyesight, a bonus in itself. Photography and post editing provided a much enjoyable distraction when it was bad, but there is much to learn.

Thank you for your support and thanks to the other members here for their encouragement.

I think the butterflies are coming out of their cocoons sheltering from the colder months here. Positive thoughts

Re: A visit to Nairobi National Park

A vast wildlife park and so close to the city.

So good to see it has survived for so long (just 2 years older than me ... and looking so much better ).

Have a great trip here

Nice photos. I think your "gazelle" is actually an Impala though.

Interesting images with the city in the background.

What we did not see during our visit, even though they were there, were Zebra, Lions, Elephants, Rhino, Leopard and Cheetah to name a few. We did ask, but the grass was quite long and some of the park was not accessible because of the not so great off road driving conditions. I did not want to chance getting stuck, despite driving a 4x4. I hope you have better success and I look forward to seeing your photos when you get back. Have a beautiful safari.

Thanks, Phil.

I think thatís a Black-headed Heron by the way, from the dark feathers running up the back of the neck and along the face below the eye.

Re: A visit to Nairobi National Park

A great set, which shows that many species can still thrive close to a city, provided their habitat is protected.

Glad to hear you are on the road to recovery from a very nasty illness and hope you enjoy your forthcoming trip to the UK.

Hi John, thank you for your comments about the Wildlife being so close to the city. We count our blessings that it is easily accessed via a new bypass which saves us from having to drive through the city to get to it. I continue to make good progress and I am doing my best to boost my immunity.

Re: A visit to Nairobi National Park

interesting pictures and nice to see as others have commented, so much richness so close to the urban environment

The second one down really emphasises this to me
