It could open up a can of worms. Let’s say for argument sake, it’s something Theresa May endorses.

Don't be shy Phil. We are all adults here and I'm sure others would be interested in what, in your considered opinion, the best education in the world actually is

So why make the statement "the best education in the world" in the first place?

I can't help you if you are feeling confused If you want to discuss the subject, start your own thread and don't pick hairs with me. Not interested, simple really. Have a peaceful night

MAY TO QUIT? 'Theresa May will ask Cabinet to sign off Brexit deal or RESIGN on TUESDAY'

A CABINET source who is “close to the process” has reportedly revealed that we could be in for a shock come Tuesday, as the Prime Minister may well ask her Cabinet to sign off on a Brexit deal.

Very cautiously and cleverly worded:

Cabinet source
close to the process
reportedly
could be in for
may well ask

Thanks but I'll wait till Tuesday to decide if it's yet more fake news.

That's not tentatively worded at all - sounds a cast iron racing cert if you ask me. Almost as good as betting on those £100 a go machines in the bookies that the Government are planning to restrict, but not too quickly as they do provide valuable income for the Treasury. If only we could get gamblers to take up smoking instead!

The best education in the world is impossible to define, because the educational needs of individuals are so different. Some need a degree whilst others benefit from an apprenticeship and rather too many enjoy a public school background that prepares them for a successful and lucrative life of doing relatively little. A few try to compensate for a mediocre secondary modern education by making controversial, sweeping statements like this on social media.

My thoughts entirely John.

However, I would disagree with your assessment of public schools. Not all public school pupils come from wealthy families, and in many cases their parents make big sacrifices in order to provide their offspring with an education that county schools are unable to, or chose not to provide.

To provide an example, it is no coincidence that our public schools have produced some of the best musicians, rugby players and scientists simply by encouraging those with talent, rather than trying to 'level the playing field' as is so often the case in our county schools.

Indeed, I often wonder whether the county school system is set up to produce students who don't ask too many awkward questions of their elected leaders?

In any case, without public schools, where would Labour MP's send their offspring for an education?

(In fairness, I suspect that Dianne Abbot is hoping that her children will be rather better at maths than she is.)

It is only controversial because the half glass empty fraternity wanted to make something out of it. Mediocre secondary modern education?

Re: Political: We're doomed, Captain Mannering...

Good morning all and welcome to the day

Did anyone see the sky news this morning and the Matt Hancock Minister interview?

He confirmed the government is stockpiling medicines for a 6 week supply, in the event of a no deal Brexit and will charter planes and ferries to bring “time sensitive” medicines in should there be a blockade at the ports. All of this because they are a “Responsible government” and before I get pulled up to define this, can someone please explain how government is behaving responsibly?
