Re: As the evening darkened...

A very nice set of a gorgeous sunset, Rosemary.
That last shot is rather clever.

I am always a sucker for sunrises/sunsets Rosemary.
Preferences?
No1 for me, I like the composition. But the others all have merit IMHO.

Thanks for the feedback, Lyn and Mark. Sorry to be slow replying, life is a bit hectic with the silly season racing closer

Although each one has its merits, just to be different... #2 because of the open space and the speckled sea. Plus, it reminds me of various parts of the world I've visited and the beauty we can all enjoy for free.

Re: As the evening darkened...

I'm not sure about preferences because they are all good and work excellently as a set, showing the progression from sunset to dusk to night. I've just looked again and I really can't decide:-

1) Very tranquil with soft, pastel colours for a relaxing mood.

2) Stronger, more dynamic colours as the sunset sky progresses. Beautiful.

3) An unusual bold and graphic composition augmented by a full range of colours and tones in the sky and reflections. The line of 5 people really makes this work.

4) Taken at that magical time when it is dark enough to depict night yet still light enough to retain colour and detail in the sky. The lit buildings and street lights are always more than twice as good when reflected in water.

5) A great graphic, almost abstract composition making full use of all those different shapes, angles and colours. Also it really captures the power of the floodlights slicing through the darkness. Upon consideration I think this is my favourite because it is so unusual, imaginative and creative and so very well done.

Re: As the evening darkened...

the last for me - I especially like the fact that we don't get to see what those powerful lights are illuminating; we just sense the power. Great exposure choice.
