Slow day at Frampton

In bird and wildlife watching you have what I call Fast and Slow days, where everything is happening or nothing is. Today was definitely a Slow day at the RSPB Frampton Marsh Reserve. The weather was promised fine, as indeed it was on the 40 minute drive there, and there was a chance of the White Rumped Sandpiper (a North American bird) and some Snow Buntings. Well it was bright for a while and then the Lincolnshire GREY came upon us, the Sandpiper hadn't been seen and the Snow Buntings were only seen at a distance through the glass window of the visitor centre.
There were a large number of Wigeon with their strange un-duck like whistling call, mainly sleeping or grazing:

Some reluctantly took to the air for a few metres:

The same went for the Dark bellied Brent Geese with their Auk like grunt, several thousand in fact:

A silent Skylark or two:

The only real highlight of the day was a lone Black tailed Godwit who was intent on posing to all-comers:

All with the E-M1 and 75-300mm

David

Slow days can be fun and very relaxing. Lovely set, I particularly like the last 2.

All very good indeed David, and beautiful light. Remarkable detail in your BIF.

Re: Slow day at Frampton

Only trouble with slow days like this ?

Gives you too much time to think about cold extremities

I really like your flocks in flight shots, David, they get better and better.
