Dragonflies with the EM5

Hi

These ponds I mentioned in an earleir post have quite a rich aquatic fauna including Dragonflies and Damselflies. While waiting for some shy birds to come closer I turned my attention to the Dragonflies for a while and fired some shots with the Skywatcher scope.

Damselflies pictures are taken more or less at point blank distance (6 meters?), the Dragonfly is taken at about 10 meters. These are about 75% crops mainly for composition reasons. I would have liked shooting from a position offering more favorable light angle but there is just too much vegetation around so you are confined to a limited shooting angle. The results turned out quite OK after all.

There were plenty of Common Darters as well but these guys were so active and with such an erratic motion pattern that framing them and focusing spot on was a bit too challenging, but I think it can be done. I shall try again at later occasion.

Thanks for looking,
Tord

Re: Dragonflies with the EM5

Good quality from your setup, as usual. Interesting that you already got some Dragons going, up north. Two weeks ago I saw my first Damselfly (Pyrrhosoma nymphula) and today only my second (Ischnura elegans). No Dragons at all thus far. But I am not complaining. I am behind in PP two or three years, so no need for to many Bugs
