Dual battery charger

Just seen this: Delkin Dual battery charger

http://delkin.com/products/batteries...ger/index.html

Sounds interesting and convenient way to charge two BLM-1s in one go.

Re: Dual battery charger

Hi,

good find that, Only being able to charge 1 battery at a time was my main gripe about using BLM1's in the grip rather than the BLL-1. Must keep an eye out for it in the UK.

Cheers, Richard

Question Re: Dual battery charger

That certainly looks like an interesting bit of kit, thanks for bringing it to our attention. The search starts now for a good supplier. Did tha staff on the stand indicate if adaptor plates were available for the BLM-1?

Cheers

Re: Dual battery charger

No props, the show price also included a free pair of plates, alas no BLM-1 plates available at the show. They did say they would post them on so they must be available in the UK. But I haven't found a source yet :-(

Re: Dual battery charger

For info, I have emailed Delkin to ask about UK suppliers and will post their answer when I get it. I also asked if there would be any chance of the making adaptor plates for the BLL-1.

I just wish I could get to Focus on Imaging to buy it and wait for the plates to be posted.

Will update as soon as I can

Chris

Re: Dual battery charger

Just a quck update, I have now received a reply from Delkin. They seem to interested in the idea of making a BLL-1 adaptor. I will reply to them this evening and let you know about their suggestions for buying the charger in the UK.

Cheers

Chris

P.S. Here is their reply

Dear Chris,

I am sorry there has been a delay in coming back to you. We have all been out at a show and are now catching up.
Please let me know where you are and I will direct you to the nearest stockist.

As for the Plate for the Olympus BLL-1, I will need to investigate this. The
BML-1 is available.

Re: Dual battery charger

I sent a rather long reply to Delkin last night giving details our wonderful forum, the BLL-1 battery and lots of other general Olympus information with a few web links. My hope being that Delkin really will produce a BLL-1 adaptor plates in addition to the BLM-1 plate.

I had a very nice reply reply from David this morning promising more news tomorrow, here is his reply -

Dear Chris,

Thank you for all of this information. It is very useful to me. I will talk to the Brand Manager at our San Diego Head Office tonight and see how quickly we can get the BLL-1 Plate if available.
At the moment the product is only available on our USA web site, which you will not be able to buy from. I expect the product to be available from the UK site later this week. The USA have just tested the system that links the Charger to plates so the plates are supplied Free.
If you look on the home page of www.delkin.com you will see a tab for 'Shop Delkin'. Click this and you will see a Union Jack. By clicking on this you will enter the UK store.
I will be back to you tomorrow.

Thank you again.

Kind Regards

This dual Delkin charger really does open up some exciting opportunities for Olympus owners. Perhaps there even may be some that have other makes of camera in addition to there Olympus cameras that would benefit even more from this adaptable charger.

As ever I will keep you all updated when I get some more news

Chris

Re: Dual battery charger

Sorry guys, bad news about Delkin making a plate for the BLL-1 battery for their dual charger. However, I though I had better not forget about asking if a plate could or would be made for the Olympus BLS-1 battery that powers the E-400, E-410 and of course the new E-420. I have asked David about this and I will update the thread when I recieve his reply.

Regards

Chris

Here is the reply I received regarding the BLL-1

Dear Chris,

Because of the nature of the battery BLL-1 there are no plans to make a plate in the near future. I am advised that it is very large, probably larger than the actual battery charger, and it a very high mAh, high voltage battery. Generally these types of large batteries require calibration and more advanced charging, meaning plates would be extremely expensive and complicated. Creating a plate for one of these would almost be like creating a new battery charger that connects to our existing one (much like our AA plate). Sorry that is not what you want to hear.

The Dual Universal Charger and Plates will be live on our web site by the end of the week. We had to make sure that when you ordered a Charger you could pick a pair of plates free of charge. This is now in place and we just need to implement it onto the web site.

Please let me know if I can be of any further assistance.

Kind Regards
