Exclamation 6 Months Free Warranty - Don't Miss It!

I just registered my OMD today to find out that I was a just a few days outside the qualifying period for a free 6-month warranty extension and was suitably annoyed as I hadn't seen any mention of this anywhere. I couldn't find a mention here nor in a quick trawl on the Olympus web site. Did I just miss it or is it one of Olympus' best kept secrets?

Anyway, don't miss out, get it registered within four weeks! I don't think this is OMD specific so I am posting here as the most suitable forum I can find.

Re: 6 Months Free Warranty - Don't Miss It!

Never heard of this. Is this an extra 6 months on top of the 2 years?
I wonder if claiming your free gift counts as registering.

I'm pretty certain I went through the registration process when I first loaded Oly Viewer 2 and I'm also pretty certain that this registred it at Olympus America. I (much) later registered it at Olympus UK when someone on the forum gave me a link.

Re: 6 Months Free Warranty - Don't Miss It!

I'm assuming so. I was past it and completed the process when I realised I hadn't got it and when I checked I was two days outside the four week grace period Grrrrr!

I couldn't find any details anywhere on the site so assumed it was triggered by a 'new registration' process. This was via the UK site. Perhaps someone has some details?

As it seemed to have been so poorly promoted and users so poorly informed I have asked Oly if they will smile kindly on me as a long-time user but I'm not holding my breath

Does anyone know if this offer still applies ?

Oh yes, just seen the info at the bottom of the OMD E-M1 add, it's still good

Did mine at the weekend and got the extra six months. Hadn't realised the original one was two years though is that the norm for everyone or did you get an extended deal?

Re: 6 Months Free Warranty - Don't Miss It!

It was on the Olympus UK E-M1 page from the start.

A 2 year warranty is standard with Olympus UK.

And here's the link for any E-M1 purchasers - its part of the 'Service Plus' package being offered to E-M1 owners, its free and so well worth getting, me thinks.
I'm not sure of the current validity status for the E-M5 owners though.

Thanks Chris, I wasn't aware of this but will certainly be signing up.

Apologies for being disingenuous, but as the requirements for this offer state "Register your EM-1 within 4 weeks of purchase." and like many I paid Olympus for my EM-1 2 weeks ago, does this mean I need to sign up for the offer before I receive my camera?

!! Uuum, I'll leave that to Ian or others to answer, but logic (if that ever applies) would say that once you receive your order / order dispatch, whether at a shop or online via Olympus, as you presumably need the camera serial number for the registration of your new camera?

Regards
Chris

Edit: Just had a look at the Registration page and it does need the new camera serial number . . . as well as the date of purchase. However, for the sake of argument I would probably enter the date of dispatch or more likely date of receipt, especially with Online Olympus store orders as they will be able to prove to themselves that we didn't have a camera to register until, in the case of the 12-40mm E-M1 kit, November which most definitely will be some weeks after our order was put in. Where money has been taken from our accounts early, due to the order delays recently, then I would say that Olympus must honour the dispatch dates rather than payment dates, where there is potential for dispute! (but I'm not legal expert)

Chris,

Don't worry it wasn't a serious question, just a cheap jibe by myself in frustration at the Olympus online store purchasing experience.

Thank you once again for the EM-1 link though I'll certainly be using it when my camera arrives.

Re: 6 Months Free Warranty - Don't Miss It!

I'm sure a lot of people will miss this. I saw it at the foot of the Oly UK E-M1 page:
http://www.olympus.co.uk/site/en/c/c..._m1/index.html

and it looks like a chargeable extra service, so many won't check it out.

Re: 6 Months Free Warranty - Don't Miss It!

We don't need to pay for extra warranty, the Service Plus is a free option with the reward of an additional 6 months warranty for registering your purchase.

Sounds a good deal to me.

Re: 6 Months Free Warranty - Don't Miss It!

Thanks for this, I missed it.
When I saw it from your link, I thought that I would have to pay, but on reading it properly, it seems it is free.
Can't be bad.
