Red Arrow selection from Fairford

Here is a selection of my Red Arrow shots from the RAF Fairford Airshow last weekend. It was one of the best Red Arrows displays I've seen. I found it difficult to grab the shots as I just wanted to watch and kept missing the key images.

Nice. I like the 2 pictures of them crossing, I can never get that right. Seeing they will be at Eastbourne for all 4 days maybe I will figure it out by the 4th day.

Re: Red Arrow selection from Fairford

I'm off to the Bournemouth Air Show at the end of August, and if I get any shots like those I will be a happy bunny !!

What lens were you using ? I've got 40-150, 70-300, 14-54....which would be best although I do plan to take all...

Peter

Great set Phil, good captures and colours are great. Saw them earlier today, but I was at Cleethorpes airshow signal not good enough to reply.

Re: Red Arrow selection from Fairford

I must admit these are the best airshow shots I've managed to get.
I used the 50-200 for a few of them but it seemed to hunt focus a bit too often on my E510 and I didn't need the wide apertures so I switched to the 14-150 for most of them. It was a bit easier to get the wide views and the semi close shots without swapping lenses. I gave up on the real close ups as following them at speed was just too difficult. Wish I'd slowed the speed down for the props though.
