Columbian Hercules

This was taken at this years RIAT at Fairford. This was the first time the Columbian Air Force attended the RIAT and they certainly pushed the boat out to get noticed.

As you can see, there was some blue sky.

Re: Columbian Hercules

Awesome. My brother is moving down to Fairford in September to start his stint at Brize, free airshow tickets next year? Thank you very much!

I like the dominance and shadow under the wing

Re: Columbian Hercules

Presumably the interesting colour scheme is so that the local drug runners will see the plane from far away and have lots of time to flee

Well, they got noticed allready.
This plane was voted by Eindhoven Welschap Aviation Society (EWAS) members to be the most ugly special paintjob on a military plane at an airshow ever.
And believe me, these EWAS-members have seen a lot of special paintjobs. Compaired with this paintjob even the Turkish Stars C-160 looks good to them.

Re: Columbian Hercules

I rather like the paint scheme with its colourful pride in the colours of the national flag and rather magnificent eagle's head - better than some of the rather tame UK paint jobs!!
Perhaps though it would have looked all the better without the PDM and C-130H text, but I guess that a bit of mutual backslapping may have been the reason as this was I think the 1st Colombian Air Force C-130H to have undergone a Programmed Depot Maintenance (PDM) refit supported by Marshalls Aerospace at Cambridge.

Regards
Chris
