September.....

Month of mists and mellow fruitfulness. Well, no mists just a gale but plenty of fruitfulness on our nature reserve and plenty of sunshine and ideal to give my 70-300 acquired this week from a forum member ( thanks minar ) it's first outing with the e-600.

Thanks for looking

Regards

Re: September.....

Lovely images.
Looks like the 70-300 is advertising its prowess really well!
Almost tempted myself.

Re: September.....

You really should get one of these Dave, it is a cracker of a lens and you can get some superb second hand deals.

Lovely set of shots Peter, nice to see you posting images.

Re: September.....

Thanks for the kind comments all. I had a 70-300 when I was using an e-410 but had to sell it to help fund my Bigma and have always missed it. It seems to work very well with the e-600 (the articulating screen was great for today's fungi shots).
Interesting that the comments are all from Wesh members, having bought it from one I wonder if I've got a special "Welsh edition".

Regards

Re: September.....

Am I allowed to comment as I am only 1/2 Welsh...the other 2/3 rds I am English with a touch of Irish.......anyway these are my sort of images BUT I would have used a 105 macro.
Just love that #1...the mixture of reds/blacks and greens with great clarity/detail are a feast to my eyes.

Re: September.....

I'm just starting to learn this lens.

What I find is that is is nice and sharp at the shorter end and seems to produce great bokeh backgrounds. Love that first shot, excellent!

Re: September.....

Very nice autumnal images and I'm not suprised you missed this lens as it excels at these kind of images, I could not be without mine and use it more than the 50mm macro for these type of images.

Re: September.....

Keith.
Thanks for your kind comment. I don't really do enough macro type shots to justify a 105 but the 70-300 with it's close focus capability gives what for me is a resonable compromise and also gives me a good lightweight alternative longer focal length lens for those occasions when the Bigma is just too big and heavy to cart around.

Pete.
Thanks for your kind comment too, No1 is the one I was most pleased with.
I also got some shots yesterday of Charlie ( Charlotte ) one of our reserve wardens giving our new wildflower meadow its first mowing. Not up to your standards for such things. However as the shots were rather badly exposed I used some wierd curves adjustments ( in GIMP ) based on your recent tips and got something passable from them. Thanks for the tips which made me think about what I was doing.

Thanks Paul, I'm already realising just how much I've missed this lens.
