Wide Angle Flash - Metz 26 af-2 ?

I tend to travel as light as I can and made the mistake the other day of using the little FL-LM2 flash with my 7-14mm PRO. The results not unsurprsingly showed a severe shadow in the lower centre third of the shot. As I was only lifting the light levels a bit and not relying on it for all the lighting needs the end result was salvageable in PP.

So my question is - what flash do you use for UWA shots?

The obvious answer is off camera flash but the FL-LM2 can not be used off camera as it powers from the accessory port. I did try my T32 and T20 on a camera bracket screwed to the bottom of the camera but you then need a camera grip to balance the thing or something like the old OM bounce grip. These work fine but you lose the small discreet package that is the E-M5 and you look like a complete p****** wandering around with a mountain of stuff hanging around your neck. I did try the T32 on the camera hot shoe but even that is a bit intimidating but it does tilt (nice) and I have the UWA flash diffuser (and ND/coloured gels and zoom filter). I can also hold the camera the way I want with my left hand under the lens. The T20 is nice and small but does not protrude far enough forward to clear the lens. The F280 sits tall and does not produce enough of an angle for UWA flash.

A bit much to carry around all day and not very discrete in museums and for street.

Then I came across the Metz 26 AF-2 (olympus/panasonic fit). This does protrude forward quite a bit, but is it enough to mostly clear the lens FOV when using the wide end of the 7-14mm? It is smallish and it also tilts and comes with flash diffuser and zoom filter. Has anyone used the AF-2 and can give advice on this or any other similar flash for use with UWA lenses?

The Metz AF-2; Angles 0 (horizontal), 45 (as shown), and 90 degrees (straight up); sadly not shown on the E-M5 and not with the 7-14mm PRO lens but you get the idea.

Have you tried bouncing the flash pointing upwards off a reflector, this raises the source of the light and also spreads it out.

Thanks Derek; its a good idea but the little FL-LM2 does not go vertical (it only flips up by a small amount which turns it on) and would not have the power.... but the flash bulb bit at the front of a T32 tilts and and would fire into one of those velcro fastened white reflectors and has the power. I'm still keen to hear from anyone who has used the Metz 26 though.
