Re: Continious auto focus AF-C

Hi,

Thanks for sharing your tips. I have been struggling with the 70-300 (due to the slow AF and limited max aperture F5.6) and have recently acquited a 50-200 SWD and hope to put it to the test as soon as I find spare time with good light conditions.

When reading through your settings I recognize I have similar settings but also notice some use shutter priority whereas some use aperture priority. I am curious about why you would select AP?

My reasoning would be the following:
- Determine required shutter speed that enables achieving sharp results, either by empiric method or best practice
- Compensate exposure (0... 2EV) in anticipation of expected average background brightness and light angle (1EV typical value)
- Set the shutter speed and adjust ISO in order to take advantage of the lens performance and also have some depth of field. This could be 1 or 2 f-stop (depends on lens actually used). Shoot wide open if slow lens.
- If possible, shorten shutter time while keeping ISO within what you feel is acceptable from noise point of view.

Would you agree?

/Tord

Frequently (for 70-300 lens) I go for broke & have maximum aperture. The other way is to use Manual, set A & S with ISO programmed for auto (in Manual mode) to achieve the desired results.
