Would be interested on views whether I've got this reasonably right...

Re: A snap off a bridge...

Hi Walti, I'm not 100% certain what your intention was with the shot. Lots of visual info to sort out. Is it more about the background or the person walking, or possibly both?

Re: A snap off a bridge...

It was taken from the train as it went through the station, with the intent of getting a view of the river... I took several and have edited this one to make it the best compromise between a silhouetted person and the background scenery, perhaps I should have tried for one or the other, but I was unaware of the glass partitions until I "sped" through the station, and couldn't really change the perspective nor subject...

Re: A snap off a bridge...

Thanks for the suggestion Alf...

I've used a different shot from the same sequence and processed and cropped slightly differently, so if I now called it travelling through the city, it might work a bit better?

Re: A snap off a bridge...

I like the idea a lot, but I find the city buildings look a bit squashed down and truncated by the roof of the station.

It might not be physically possible, but could you take it from a position (?an adjacent line, or a lower viewpoint) where they just fit below the roof & that horizontal black beam?

With the benefit of hindsight, had I known that view was there on the outward journey the photo would have been a lot better as I’d have been on the track nearer the window/platform.

I was trying out the new Cambridge to Brighton direct service for the first time, so was unaware of this bridge and view..... next time!

Re: A snap off a bridge...

Thanks for sharing - nice idea !

My suggestion - use the station components as the frame, and crop out everything that has been decapitated: the person and the upright becoming the limits of the frame. The picture then becomes Tower Bridge and the river framed by the silhouetted parts of the station on the second shot, or just the bright part of the skyline in the first shot (but I don't like the conflict between the boat and the horizontal in the first shot).

Re: A snap off a bridge...

I like Alf's edit as I don't have to struggle to see the details.
