What is a Merkal?

Until recently, when asked the question "What is a Merkal?" I didn't have a clue.

When I looked the answer up on Wiki, it gave this answer: A Merkal, or Merkal-Ranvier cells are oval, tactile receptors found in the skin of vertebrates that have synaptic contacts with somatosensory afferents. They are associated with the sense of light touch discrimination of shapes and textures.

The same question when asked in Greece, if you were Greek, gave the answer: "ein Schmerz in den Arsch Frau"

Seems Wiki doesn't always get it right.
