Not missing the 12 f2, I guess! It looks like the replacement is a good choice of lens. Don't tempt me!

Re: An afternoon in Glasgow

I think I'll miss the 12mm as a street lens but not as a landscape lens...the 12-40 is heavy and big......so for street I'll be using the 17 pancake or 25mm f1.8....thanks for your comments.

Re: An afternoon in Glasgow

I've tried your old 12 on the street, my usual game of waiting in anticipation for someone to walk into my field of view, which in the case of the 12 is reasonably wide.

Re: An afternoon in Glasgow

A very pleasing set with some good compositions Brian.

That lens certainly does the business.

Thanks for sharing.

Re: An afternoon in Glasgow

Thanks for your comments.....we've now moved on to the Trossachs today.

Ricoh....I hope you are enjoying the 12mm.....I used the it in manual mode, focus ring pulled back and prefocussed to make sure there was plenty of dof and preset the exposure....then just shoot away....I found this the best for street photos.

Re: An afternoon in Glasgow

I like the 12mm very much Brian, I had a quick trial run on Friday (Good Friday) but the rest of the time I've been doing DIY, got to keep the Mrs happy!
Hyper focal is going to prove a good asset, just need to raise the camera (or from the hip) and press the shutter.
For panoramic shots I also have the Panny 7-14, but it suffers from the dreaded purple blobs if the light source is within the field of view (on olympus bodies). Now with the 12mm I can have that attached to one camera, and the 7-14 on the other.
