Old age strikes again

As a lot might know things tend to go haywire as you get older...well as I never had a depth of knowledge of computers to start with them any fall off is bad news.
I currently find myself without my trusty P/shop 7 as it has stopped working......so need to get images to open in another "thing"....I can right click on an image and set open with to the one I want but its for that one only and then if I want to look at it again I have to go through it all again.

Any tips please ??? to do an open with over all images and make it stick.

OLD AGE....Its terrible when you are starting to loose it all and are still able to witness yourself and feel as if your mind is in turmoil........

Thanks
Keith

Hello Keith sorry to hear about your P/shop 7 not working, I use Light room 5 I do understand as I am being affected with age. My computer skills are limited
give Light room a go. I hope this helps regards John.

When you right click and select open with go to the bottom of the list and select Choose default program. Browse to the program you want to use and make sure the "always use the selected program to open this kind of file" box is ticked. Hope this helps.

I'm not sure what operating system your computer is using but hopefully one of these free programs may help until you get sorted.

\thanks John.....see above...I can now use Windows in the meantime......

I tried loads of alternatives to P/shop when it went and could not operate them easily.....me not them.

Re: Old age strikes again

This is the advice I found online to fix the p/shop not opening problem......

Another (better) way is to find the actual Adobe Photoshop 7.0 Prefs.psp file in C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop\7.0\Adobe Photoshop 7.0 Settings and move it to Recycle or your Desktop and restart Photoshop. A new Preferences file will be created. The advantage to this is if you have unsaved custom presets, actions or whatever they will not be lost. But you should be Saving them anyway.

Any time something worked yesterday but doesn't work today in Photoshop should make you suspect a corrupted Preferences file.

Only thing is I cannot even do the 1st instruction......how to get into C/Documents then settings etc.....YES this will take a few years...can see Vista dying off the computer before I get past stage 2.

Re: Old age strikes again

Try the Free, Open Source GIMP which you can modify a bit or a lot to a Photoshop-style interface:
http://www.gimp.org/

It'll always be free, and updated regularly.

(I hear GIMPshop isn't particularly to be recommended as it's apparently a bit "buggy", and based on an older version of GIMP.)

Re: Old age strikes again

Perhaps try the Adobe web site, a while back it was possible to download a copy of CS2 for nothing. Might work and give you a little more functionality than 7.
