HELP - Removing Previous versions of Lightroom and Photoshop?

Having recently upgraded to the most recent versions of Lightroom and Photoshop I was wondering if I can remove previous versions safely. I was trying to sort out my computer and clean it up when I noticed old versions are still installed, I dont want to remove them if it will affect the working of the new versions but they are probably taking up a lot of space.
Thanks for any advice you can offer.
Shirley

Re: REmoving Previous versions of Lightroom and Photoshop

I removed LR3.6 after installing LR4.1 and have had no problems so far.

Make sure that you have un registered the version of the products. This will enable the version to be installed elsewhere. And if needed for a later upgrade.

Thank you David and Derek.
I had not thought of unregistering and have never done it, is it in the program itself or do I have to go to adobe website?

Re: REmoving Previous versions of Lightroom and Photoshop

You can simply uninstall these from the Control Panel Programs window. If you have unwanted older versions of the full version of Photoshop and the licence remains active (you haven't bought a newer 'upgrade' version that cancels the previous version's licence) you can deactivate before uninstalling so it can be used again on another computer (or you might want to sell it). To deactivate Photoshop go to the About menu and click on deactivate. Once done you can uninstall.

Re: REmoving Previous versions of Lightroom and Photoshop

Shirley,
Removing LR is straightforward. However if you have an older version of Photoshop (e.g. CS3) then removing it entirely is well nigh impossible - even if it is de-activated etc.. The program is notorious for putting Registry entries and DLLs all over the place - and they don't all get removed when you do a program uninstall.

There are some instructions on Adobe's website for thorough uninstallation but these are not guaranteed. The only sure way is to throw away your computer and start afresh
