Question: Do we do it for the dopamine addiction?

Do you fall into this trap, answer honestly!

Well, Id say the author of that has fallen in to several of the things he called traps by writing a click-baity article on Petapixel that tries to slag off many reasons anyone might want to take pictures and show them to anyone else (or not). He comes across as a grumpy old git in the making

He'll be advocating auto-focus next; just wait, you'll see!

A slur on grumpy old gits. None of them on this forum would post such an article. Chasing "Likes" is like chasing the end of the raindow and doesn't do you any good. BTW, what's social media?

Re: Question: Do we do it for the dopamine addiction?

It is actually quite interesting to think on the different reasons people have for taking and (especially) showing their pikkies on any forum/page/wall etc etc. However, the bloke who wrote that article clearly didn't have much interest in participating in anything in person and in real time - he started off with a kick at camera clubs.

Obviously the chance to commune with the sophisticated, rarified and talented bunch on here is sufficient reason on its own.

A "Like" is a bit like marmite. nice to have, but can do without it ..

Re: Question: Do we do it for the dopamine addiction?

I like having likes as much as anyone, but quite often I post photos that I know aren't going to get many likes just to be contrary.

The opposite of "likes" is when your photo's topic drops off the first page of the Foto Fair and into the depths of history.

All mine do that - I thought that was how the system worked.
