Amazing photos.... Thanks for the link.

A land of extremes in many ways, make you glad we have "ordinary" weather.

They deserve our thoughts at least.........

Some stunning documentary photography there. It really makes you realise the enormity of it. A great many people will be facing terrible times over the coming days, weeks and months as they try to rebuild their lives.

Ordinary weather? I seem to recall seeing images of floods in the UK during the last couple of years. I think we will see more abnormal weather in the future as 'climate change' influences it around the globe.

Yes, makes you think, doesn't it.

Is not climate change - it's climate breakdown:

The world is sleepwalking to a radically different future.

Excellent photoreportage, thanks for that.
"Inconvenient" indeed.
Good article by Monbiot, too. He has a point.

So, Trump will protect us with walls while Californian startups will save us all with carbon-capture technologies they haven't quite got working yet. What can possibly go wrong?

Re: Not Oly but a different set of street pictures

Interesting isn't it that so many people are arguing over whether it is man-made or not. Evidence is it is happening. If it does indeed turn out to be our fault then sitting arguing about it will have acheived nothing. If it is not caused by man then there is nothing we can do to stop it. It seems to me you do something and hope for the best but prepare for the worst. Simples or perhaps too logical.

I watch Ted Forbes' Art of Photography podcast. He lives in Dallas and his last episode was about this tragedy and gave a list of ways one could help. It may seem hard-hearted, the only way I could contribute would be cash but I find it difficult to do so when, outside a few oil states, the richest country in the world can't look after its own. There are disasters in much poorer countries, and of course our own where the needs are greater or more apposite.

Indeed, because thousands have died in the recent Indian subcontinent floods: how much relatively are we hearing about them?

If anyone feels motivated to contribute, I strongly recommend donating (instead of to the US) to one of the established charities working there, one of those with proven leverage (i.e. good donation-to-effects-on-the-ground ratio). I haven't yet checked this time, but Oxfam has a good track record.

Also, Nepal or Bangladesh will get my personal donation: India is relatively very much more wealthy.

So true about concerns & donations as stated here. Houston floods, but what about all the other disasters?

Coming back to the Pic's -
Thank you for the link, & to the guy who took time to put the piece together. Can't say one comes across that sort of 'Picture Post' approach much these days , to setting up (unselfishly) a storyboard.
