Re: Crich Stand (Derbyshire) sunrise

Nice to see people giving non critical feedback which helps you to see your work through others eyes and to suggest changes which is what this section is for in my opinion!
It also gives that chance just to praise the photos they like and which you are happy with.

By the way great sky and I like the cropped version also good to see the shot of the area in daylight like the look of the quarry.

I am afraid there has been critical feedback otherwise it would not have been suggested that the shot was cropped.

It does not matter how polite you are criticism is still criticism.

Re: Crich Stand (Derbyshire) sunrise

Get over yourself being polite has nothing to do with it.

crit·i·cism noun \ˈkri-tə-ˌsi-zəm\
: the act of expressing disapproval and of noting the problems or faults of a person or thing : the act of criticizing someone or something

: a remark or comment that expresses disapproval of someone or something

: the activity of making careful judgments about the good and bad qualities.

If you want to be pedantic do but at no time in my mind was any disapproval or fault made just helpful assistance suggesting that it may look better in a different form not saying it was wrong?

i.e Help
is any form of assistance.

as in

as·sis·tance [uh-sis-tuhns]
noun
the act of assisting; help; aid; support.

Your turn now, I am away to bed. Good night

Re: Crich Stand (Derbyshire) sunrise

The only confusion to me is why there is so much discussion about what to post where. It seems pretty obvious to me. Maybe I've got it wrong but as I'm awake and can't sleep tonight here's my take on it.
LFI is specifically where a poster is looking for expert advice and specific help to improve his/her photography technique, usually posting only one or two images illustrating what they want to improve.
Foto Fare is for sharing an image/images with whoever wants to view them with the possibility (or usually hope) that viewers will post their thoughts including likes and dislikes. If the poster in photo fare adds comments/critique also welcome then surely people can offer just that and be more specific if they feel like it, as that's what the poster has asked for.

Sorry Phil
where does this critique is allowed

Foto Fair Post your photos for friendly, non-critical feedback. This is the place to show pictures if you aren't yet ready for full-blooded critique, or simply want to share an interesting picture with other e-group visitors.
The words non critical appear

Ps
Where does LFI say only post bad pictures here?

Re: Crich Stand (Derbyshire) sunrise

If I knew there would be all this over me posting a photo, I probably would not have bothered.

So I will seriously think about not bothering with any more.

Re: Crich Stand (Derbyshire) sunrise

Ian sorry if my comments have bothered you please keep on posting.

I will post in FF most times as all I want is others to see some of my shots and to get their FEELINGS about them if they go further and give me advice great.

If we do not have the two areas all photograghs would be up for critism which in my mind would stop some people posting?
A lot of shots are posted just to let people see what they have been doing or what they have managed with their kit..

Last words, I agree let people post on which area they want and if wrong the mods will sort things.

Keep posting Ian, you've done nothing wrong as far as I can see.
I wouldn't want to miss a stunning image like the one you started this thread with.
