OM-D & 12-50 direct from Olympus UK for 920 posted

...and Body only 800.

All Olympus 'reconditioned' with a full 2 year Olympus UK warranty. When Olympus service something it's like new in my experience.

Actually, 920 is the same as a new one at 1150 less the cost of the 45mm lens at 229 (free until 31st December), so if you want that lens (who doesn't) a new one is probably a better buy.

Unless the lens promotion applies to Olympus Shop UK reconditioned units too? (I think not).

I want to know if the 45mm is included or not, definitively.

I am sure that it is just a one year warranty, rather than two.
I emailed Oly UK about the 45mm f1.8 offer and it does not apply to refurbished cameras. Not surprised though!

One weird thing, this 40-150 lens picture isn't a picture of the silver one, its a negative picture of a on-R black one ... totally odd.

This was enough to topple me off the fence so I pushed the button! Didn't really want the 45mm so went for it, reckoned better than getting a UK (but really US grey import) via ePay. I can confirm that the order acknowledgement confirms 2 years European warranty. Many thanks to DJMC for this tip-off, it's much appreciated but I'll blame you when I break this to the High Commander

Thumbs up Re: OM-D & 12-50 direct from Olympus UK for 920 posted

Bad form replying to my own post I know, but as I can't edit it...

Update: the E-M5 arrived fairly quickly and was complete and in pristine condition. I haven't had much time to spend with it as yet but have updated it from 1.2 to 1.4 thence 1.5. The whole operation was trouble free and took less than 15 minutes all told for both updates. No camera settings I had changed from defaults appeared to be reset. I'm now busy doing test shots against the E-5/12-60mm. Boy, what a size difference. The High Commander couldn't believe it - now she wants to ditch her E-PM1 and have one (although I get the pleasure of paying ).

Just to confirm - Olympus Europe have confirmed that reconditioned products do carry ONLY an ONE YEAR warranty. Not an issue for me but others may be interested.

Glad someone benefitted.

Tell me... are you going to complain to Olympus about their written confirmation that it has two years warranty, only to find out when it arrived it's one year? I know I would.

As the two year confirmation formed part of the contractual paper trail I think they should be bound by it. They may choose to amend their order process to correct this error in future but a pleasant complaint may get you an extra year, and thanks for advising them of this contradictory state of affairs?

Do you get the flash, strap etc when you buy one? It's not clear from the advert.

Yes, complete with flash and strap, battery, charger, software CD and user manual also. The only thing missing was the warranty card but this was confirmed as normal by Olympus who said that in the case of re-conditioned units the invoice will serve to prove the warranty. I am in discussion with them about the 1 year/2 year issue, the ball is in their court at the moment.
