Nope; its still photography and no different to using the old darkroom to improve a photograph. Even the mini labs "edited" your photos

If moody, long-exposure, dramatic B&W architecture images are your thing, check out Joel Tjintjilaar

I kind of like the look, but would never have the patience to do the hours of processing...

I like Joel's work too Margaret; thanks for sharing

your work is not too shabby ether Margaret; but just image how good they would look with a few hours of editing

Now I use LR mostly I find I do a lot less "specialty" editing; in fact I have forgotten much of the PS tricks and I haven't used the Nik stuff for awhile.

Re: not an Oly in sight but ....

Would you like to know why I was not successful with selling my printed landscape photos?
I made them too nature looking; the way I thought they should be but the people wanted the more vivid, saturated glossy colours

I still do not real like the real vivid, saturated glossy colours we often see, however they are the pictures people seem to prefer and pay for; and sometimes they pay a lot of $$

so far from reality however Ken has become a very rich person
http://www.kenduncan.com/gallery

http://www.markgray.com.au/gallery/elite-collection.php

this is so over the top; but I would love to have all those letters after my name; not to mention his bank account .... even 1/4 of bank account. He now flies the world doing the photos for the inflight quantas magazine
http://www.petereastway.com/

They all win the big awards with vivid, saturated glossy colours
vivid, saturated glossy colour photos get more hits on G+/flickr

Just tossing some thoughts in folks.
I listened the peter many years ago when he wowed us with his dark room skills. I then learnt much of my PS/LR stuff from his books and magazines. He is one of a kind.

Is not photography art? If so, then it's completely wrong to consider PP skills to be "fakery". If you're doing documentary journalism, then perhaps you have a point, but this is most definitely art and I think the images are great.

Re: not an Oly in sight but ....

Hi Those Black and White images are great, and for fakery, I have seem prints from film before digital ever came out produced the same high quality prints, there is nothing new in digital editing that has not been done in a darkroom, Have a look at Ansel Adams work back in the sixties. Even merging multiple images and cloning was done in 1880's

TBH Ian I am not a fan of massively manipulated images but I think this guy has enhanced his images well.

On the other hand I am saddened by the amount of image manipulation I see in weddings and portraits nowadays considering how much trouble I used to get as good an image as I could "straight out of the camera" in the film days...

it's what the clients expect these days Mal; but only because they saw the idea that a photographer had made. However most don't expect to pay for it because it's just a matter of pushing a few buttons. Photographers always have to be coming up with something different. Glad I'm out of that c***!!

I just cannot understand the number of photos taken at a wedding these days. I have heard of a company using three or four photographers taking 6000 (yeah 6000) photos at one wedding .
