Lightbulb What is the extra connection pin on MC14 for?

And also, why are there two connector pads in that location on the 40-150 Pro lens?
Solved (I think). There is no firmware in the MC14.

Here's the MC14 with one extra connector pin.

And the lens (40-150 Pro) with two connection pads at that location.

I think I have seen a rumour of a 2 times (or was 1.7 times?) teleconverter Olympus patent & wonder if the other pad is designed for that when it comes?

Any clues anyone?

Re: What is the extra connection pin on MC14 for?

I think you are right. The only other lens with the extra connections is the 300 f4. And those two are the only lenses that work with the converter.

Yes, but why are there two connection pads on the lens & only one (connection pin) on the TC? Another TC to come with the pin connection on the other lens pad?

Or are we going to get an MX25 (M4/3's EX25)? But then that shouldn't be limited to those two lenses.

Re: What is the extra connection pin on MC14 for?

I guess they have left their options open. They could use the other connection for a 2x and both connections for a 1.7x etc.

Re: What is the extra connection pin on MC14 for?

I have found a site's reference to the patents for both the 2.0 & 1.7 times teleconverters here. http://thenewcamera.com/olympus-2-0x...erter-patents/

It will be interesting to see what may eventuate here.

Re: What is the extra connection pin on MC14 for?

A 2x TC for MFT would be nice but my money is on it being unaffordable and you would be better off buying the appropriate lens. Its a pity the current 1.7x [Edit: of course I meant the 1.4x] is restricted to the two PRO lenses 40-150mm and 300mm.

We don't have a 1.7 (yet), only 1.4 times TC.

I'm still puzzled why there are two connector pads on the lens (40-150 Pro) & only one connector pin on the MC14 TC in that location.

Re: What is the extra connection pin on MC14 for?

It is part of the Olympus subtle cunning plan. Ross was promised a deal on a 40-150& TC all he had to do was say he had dropped his 50:200 and let us know.
Then included in the box was a message telling him to start this thread.
So now we are all concentrating on why the extra pins and our minds have been taken away from thinking about the price of the new body OMD E-M 1 latest release .
So by the time we either find out or get fed up people will have the new body and be raving about it and we will forget the issue of price.

Guess who has work to do & is procrastinating in doing it (it's dangerous working from home!).
