Lens Hood for M.Zuiko Digital 14-42mm 1:3.5 -5.6

I have one of the new lens types that opens automatically but can't find a hood that will fit so far....anyone got any recommendations?

Olympus website indicates an LH-40 Silver hood, Googling that shows several options, ranging from about £11 on EBay to what I assume is an original at nearly £40.
I think!

EDIT - Actually I had already ordered one of those from Amazon and it didn't seem to fit either. Probably would have been ok for the earlier lens with the manual release but this one is automatic and doesn't seem to fit.
Still searching :-)

Check the accessories bit on the Olympus site, shows a Mk II lens and list the LH-40 hood. I’m assuming there’s not a Mk III lens but then again you know they say about assuming.

If by "new lens type that opens automatically" you mean the 14-42mm EZ then this lens does not have a fitting for a lens hood. See the little paper manual that came with the lens.

There is however a very good accessory for this lens which is the LC-37C automatic lens cap. I have one of these and find it very useful.

Hope this helps.

Regards.

eBay also has 3rd party combined lens cap/hoods for the lens

Not a recommendation but an example

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Auto-Lens...4383.l4275.c10

I imagine it screws into the filter thread where the older 14-42 has a decorative ring on the outside for a bayonet style fitting.

I'd be slightly wary about attaching something bulky to the filter thread on an electronic expanding lens in case it catches on a bag of jacket and pulls the mechanism. I lost a lovely Canon compact to a lens error after it's motorised lens took a knock while extended.
