Re: Concorde Lightshow.

We went there today

Brought back some old memories of when I used to see it parked across the other side of the runway just rotting away.

I like the new museum … it's well worth a couple of hours and they are working on "new" planes to display in coming years.

Sorry no pictures because it was full of kids and I was not feeling inspired

Regards
Andy

Re: Concorde Lightshow.

It's a super museum of our aeroplane history....UK was once in the lead, but probably could not afford the development costs.

I have the accolade of having flown on a Comet, circa 1980....

Re: Concorde Lightshow.

We went on the Concorde at Brooklands. I was surprised at how narrow the cabin was - I could touch both walls at the same time. A lot of the fittings were also very 'plasticky'.

I'm not sure - I'm 6' 4 1/2" and I guess that my arms are proportionate.

Crikey, you would undoubtedly be a tight fit there, the seats are smaller than Cattle class on modern jets...………..

The seats were OK. They did a simulated flight, with sound effects and the seats vibrating. The 'speed' was also shown on the large digital display at the front.

Re: Concorde Lightshow.

Compared to Yeovil, there appears to be much more space around exhibits, is that because they have less to display, or more space?

There is plenty to see IMO... we were there for about 4 hours including time for a cuppa

The Concorde has it's own hanger which they also use for some events hence the large amount of space around it. To see lots of exhibits .. look at mark's other thread

There are also 2 restoration buildings which if you are lucky to be there when people are working so they are open add some more interest.

Regards
Andy

I looked at that, and it's what made me think that Filton might be best for isolation of subjects as I remember Yeovil as being crammed full as this linked image shows

Re: Concorde Lightshow.

You can get a good shot of the Concorde at Brooklands. It's in the open without any surrounding 'clutter'.
