E-P1 performance in low-light

A colleague of mine is interested in the E-P1 but is planning on doing some low-light shooting and he was wondering how it performs. He's been previously looking at DSLRs like the Nikon D90 (but would rather find a much more affordable solution).

I was wondering if anyone knew of any places I can find some good examples of the low-light shots with the E-P1 to show him.

Unfortunately, as mentioned in my introduction post, I am awaiting delivery of my E-P1 so can't do anything myself to show him yet (and won't be able to get the most out of it initially anyway).

You do need to be able to manage noise grain in post processing to get the best out of the Pens in low light when using high ISO. But some good results are very possible at even ISO 3200 depending on what you intend to use the pictures for. ISO 6400 shows a noticeable jump in noise.

Here is an ISO 3200 shot I took when the camera first came out:

Hi Ian,

Many thanks for that. I've had a read through and also passed on the link to my colleague. He seemed very impressed when I just showed him your example!

My answer : ISO/noise at 800 and 1600 are fine by me, but you're really going to be dependant on LENSES.
so ... what's your colleague going to stick on the font of his e-P1 ?

Hi Ulfric,

I'm not sure to be honest, I'll ask. I think he's in the position where he'll basically let the requirements guide his purchases and would be open to input on what would perform best lens wise.
