E-30 At Warehouse Express Pre-Order for 999

Got very depressed when I saw earlier threads about the price of the E-30 - these were too high for me. Even this 999 is body only. I suppose I am still depressed.

The Nikon and Canons I have tried do seem tempting --- Good job I like my 520!

Presumably the high price is related to the poor exchange rate.

How disappointing .

There is no way I can justify that .

Is there any possibility that the price might be lower when it actually goes on sale - to make us all feel like we have a bargain?

Re: E-30 At Warehouse Express Pre-Order for 999

Well the E-30 was intended to sit between the E-520 and E-3 but the price certainly is not sitting between the two even with the bad exchange rate!

Another one that will give it a miss at that price.

Re: E-30 At Warehouse Express Pre-Order for 999

I spoke to Park cameras just the other day, and they suggested around the 800 mark. Another poster on "the other" forum had pre-ordered I seem to remember, and was given 799.

But I agree, if its up at 1000, then Oly will have few takers.

Get an E3 from Jessops at 919 and get the free kit Oly are offering. Much better deal.

Oly have lost their way big time if they think people will pay this sort of price when Nikon and Canon same spec bodies are 600 ish.

All the best.

Re: E-30 At Warehouse Express Pre-Order for 999

Had a word with Warehouse Express today they reckon the body it only going to come into this country in limited amounts & they not be able to get hold of any till sometime in March.

I also said that Park Camera's was their pre-order price at 799, to which they said that their price will be similar to their's when it released, but looks like Park will only get the bodies sometime in mid Febuary.

Also Jessops have a 999 price tag to.

Im pretty dissapointed tbh.

I was really looking forward to getting the E-30 body in the next week or so, but form what i seen prices are now between 999 to 1099 just for the body, and at that price it just not worth it & there is better options about for alot less money.

Also looking around at prices of the E-3, they has shot up aswell, the ones that still list it at around 900 haven't got any stock.

Was watching this for Xmas at UKDigital and when the money became available it had gone up to 1199 so that went out the window so ended up with a flashgun and a expensive car repair ,Catalytic converter went and so did 450 of my pennies

Re: E-30 At Warehouse Express Pre-Order for 999

You can get a, ssshhhhhh, Nikon D300 body for that price (and I know which I would prefer for my money). I think the final selling price will be much lower when it appears in the shops and on the web. If not then it just ain't gonna sell. The E-3 would be a far better option.

Re: E-30 At Warehouse Express Pre-Order for 999

They're all trying to grab the 'must have it on the day of release' brigade in order to maximise their profit .

The price will come down at some point (espcially if nobody buys it ), but it'll be a waiting game as usual.

I made the mistake of ordering my E-3 from Warehouse Express - got fed up in the end of them 'still waiting for supplies, there aren't any to be had madam', and took myself off to LCE who happened to have them in . Didn't get it cheap, but didn't get ripped off either - comparatively speaking.

Re: E-30 At Warehouse Express Pre-Order for 999

I expect it'll settle in a few months at a more sensible pricetag, it's clearly intended to be lower in the pecking order than the E3 and expect the price to match, it's at a peak now as it's a new model.

It'd have to drop a hell of alot before I can afford to upgrade though
