FS. Vivitar/Kiron 28mm f2.0 manual lens

After some serious thinking I am going to offer this excellent little lens for sale. This is my Vivitar 28mm f2.0 with serial number starting 22 - which means it was made by legendary 3rd party lens designers Kino Precision also known as Kiron.
If you search their details as I did, you will find they are well regarded among legacy lens enthusiasts. They certainly knew how to design sharp lenses, but did not have the success they deserved. I have been looking for one of these in Konica fitting for months.

Anyway, lets start with some pictures...

and here is how it looks on an E400 (perfect, eh?)

So .. why sell it? Well, I don't hang on to lenses unless I know I am going to use them. In this case I can tell straight away that my old eyesight isn't up to focussing a lens this short accurately, and it is such a sharp lens that you need to focus it accurately It works well for me using the E510 and live view, but I was hoping to keep it on the E400.

It is certainly used, but pretty clean as you see, it has no fungus or scratches on the lens surfaces. I have carefully refurbished the mechanics and removed the traces of oil from the diaphragm (a common fault in Kiron lenses). It is a Konica AR fitting that I have converted to 4/3rds with my usual method - see my web page.

Here is a shot I took with the lens wide open, and it gets sharper still at f2.8 and very good indeed at f4 onwards

And here is one hand held with bounce flash at f4 with a 100% crop

I wonder if anyone is interested? I'd like to get 28 for it, and this includes postage. Paypal would be good

Any takers?

Pete

Oh, PS, front and rear caps are included, but the E400 isnt :-)
