Olympus Servicing...

Not sure if this the place for thoughts on servicing, but having had a small problem with my EM-1 I decided to ring the service centre number to find out the best way forward.
The guy who answered the phone could not have been more helpful, after discussing what had gone wrong (the dial altering the F stop ceased to operate) he said they would arrange collection, meaning no visit for me to the post office, and they would sort it for me and get it back to me within 7 days.
I actually delivered the parcel myself as the DHL depot is less than mile away, which was last Tuesday, and this morning it was delivered back problem solved! Not only that but it was pristine (Not that I sent it over in a shabby condition !!), inside a new box, I am impressed.

Sometimes as consumers we demand and expect so much these days, but at times we need to congratulate the efforts of those working in the service sector. Bear in mind that this went to Portugal and back I think Olympus deserve some praise here...

Cheers

Peter

Re: Olympus Servicing...

Had the same problem with my E-P5, ie the main (rear) wheel not responding.
SRS, dealt with it, but I assume the camera did the Portugal run. All in all it took 13 days including transportation. The advice note said a new top plate had been fitted.
Like you I congratulate Olympus, and in my case, SRS as well.

Re: Olympus Servicing...

The seller asked me to send my EM-1, and proof of purchase, to A J Johnstone @ Co in Glasgow. (Rear dial seized, RC flash control via FL-LM2 erractic). It came back, yesterday, pristine. Beware, on these occasions the factory resets are all set back, including clock and date! Today I have to do My Resets all over again.

The rear dial on my EP2 is now difficult to set for EV +/- but is fine for shutter speed.

Re: Olympus Servicing...

Just checked my settings and everything is as it was when it left me....all I would say if anyone has to send a camera back, contact Olympus direct off their website, as I said earlier I can only applaud the service I received..
