An Unusually Serious Friday Question

Far too frivolous here of late so time to resolve a serious issue.

The context - You have superb piece of gammon in front of you.

Q - What do do you on top of it
A - Pineapple
B - A poached egg
C - A lightly fried egg
This needs resolving urgently

Hec

Re: An Unusually Serious Friday Question

Why spoil the gammon by putting anything on it?

Lightly fried egg everytime. I love eggs, and the taste works well for me.

Re: An Unusually Serious Friday Question

Lightly fried egg for me, as it is not natural to have fruit on meat, as it should be for puddings :-)

+1 for fried egg.

I like gammon, and pineapple, but I reckon they go together like peaches and creosote.

Ciao ... John

No No No fruit is for puddings - apple, cranberry sauce, etc should not be put anywhere near meat for puddings only! (sorry one of my pet hates )

Re: An Unusually Serious Friday Question

Pineapple every time, it seems to bring out the flavour of the gammon. I'm glad we have returned to being serious rather than frivolous.

Re: An Unusually Serious Friday Question

Grill the gammon with the pineapple on top so the juices get into the meat. Discard the pineapple and then put the fried egg on top. The only time to keep the pineapple is in a sweet and sour sauce.

Re: An Unusually Serious Friday Question

If I can only have one I usually go for the egg, but I like it best when I can have both!

Ah, but tomatoes are fruit and they are often served with meat dishes!

Also, figs and goats cheese go well together (although no meat there!)

Re: An Unusually Serious Friday Question

Since I've only eaten ham steaks (leg ham) here, we would grill (or fry in a pan) the ham & pineapple, otherwise cranberry sauce on cold ham is nice, or else fry up the gammon (ham or bacon), eggs & tomatoes. Goes extra nice on a BBQ plate.
