Though, I'd like to see in the E7, higher frames per second, maybe also increasing to 15mp, 12.3 seems to be the limit for Olympus. Maybe even more focusing points!
The best performing Olympus camera to date is the 16MP E-M5!

The most likely design will be a lightly modified E-5 chassis with updated sensor, IS and electronics from the E-M5. They might be able to remove the flash, but I'd say that is unlikely and it is useful as the remote flash commander. Video is a no-cost feature; it will stay and be updated to 1080HD. I'd say that a touch screen is not needed.

It would be nice to update the continuous shooting speed, but not a given.

That is, of course, if the E-7 appears at all!

Re: E7 rumours

I really hope, for the sake of those of you with a heavy investment in SHG glass, it does come to fruition, but as it's likely to be a big(gish) lump, I'll stick with my E-M5.

Re: E7 rumours

Currently I am using my E-5 for work but I am beginning to find it has drawbacks. It may be me but can you use it tethered (wireless or not) with a pc? If that is currently not available, it is one of the things I would be looking for in an E-7. For my work I will shortly be going over to N***n as that is what the office uses. From where I sit the Olympus SHG glass is every bit as good as and often outdoes the competition. The Oly tilting screen is so useful that my colleagues are frustrated that they don't have that.
I will be getting a D800 body for work (a couple of lenses, flashgun, tripod and head, basic kit). I think the D800 is currently the elephant in the room at professional level, not just at DSLR but also at medium format level. it seems to be the current body by which others are measured.
If the E-7 does appear I will buy one. I would suspect if it does appear that there will be some (SHG) glass to go with it. I'm very pleased with my 7-14 and am considering the 35-100.
I notice in this thread Ian is not issuing a categoric denial.

I think there will be more change to the body than that. Built in battery pack for portrait shooting. Mirrorless operation.
The flash is pretty irrelevant. I now use a Storbies and Yongnuo remote set of triggers which allow me to use any flashgun (not just Oly) off camera. The big N***ns don't have pop up flash and having had a good look at the SB-910 it is miles ahead of the FL50R. (enough to scare and confuse me) I agree with the comment on video and touch screen. And I think the continouus shooting speed is a red herring for most photographers other than those based at a certain stadium for the next couple of weeks.

Re: E7 rumours

In some ways i hope that the E7 doesn't appear.

I am in love with my E5 purchased second hand on here, I think I will be using it for a good while to come with 12-60, 50-200 and 50mm macro (E620 back up)

I can live with it's relatively low pixel count as i save for a d800 to use alongside my Oly set up.

An E7 would, undoubtedly, be expensive and would leave me with a big decision, it would have to be a fair leap forward to make it worthwhile over the E5, but then again I love the lenses I have before I even get to try shg.
